ooo they are pretty.. guess he cant be named "mama duck" anymore lol. Guess I need to start looking for a girlfriend for himThat's deff a boy which Celtic said would make sense on the dark coloring. He should eventually look like this http://www.google.com/search?q=khak...&biw=1280&bih=800#biv=i|123;d|prGrJIRo5gxu8M:. I'd go ahead and get a few more ducks![]()
ETA: it takes a second for the page to fully load.
oh the link you posted? it just went to a regular google search for khaki campbell drakesYes they are very pretty. I'm sad I didn't get one and ended up with just girls. Actually looking at the pic it might even be a picture of Celticoaksfarm's ducks as it says Celtic oaks on it. Yes he will deff need a girlfriend or two![]()
thanks! I guess I will just have to wait and see! thank you! (s) he is very pretty & super sweet. Im amazed how much she lets me hold her and stuff considering Ive only had her a few days. She doesnt like to be outside the coop though, is that normal.. If i take her out and put her in the kiddie pool, she will swim for 5 mins and then jump out and go back to the coop door trying to get back in. I thought it was kinda strange. When do ducks start laying eggs?
oh the link you posted? it just went to a regular google search for khaki campbell drakes. Now, excuse me if this is a stupid question, but say I got hatching eggs soon and incubated them, would there be too much of an age difference between them? I recently got incubators & am obsessed with trying to hatch things

hes in with 2 ducklings now. they were born on 5/6 so they are pretty young. They just run around in one lil flockLol of course it did figures found a really good pic but nope doesn't show that lol. With him being a boy then I'd try to get girls the same age as him otherwise he would harass your ducklings. If you kept the ducklings separate from him until they were about 18 weeks old than it would be o.k. but they couldn't be much younger than that.
yeah, im thinkin about getting a leash for him/her to walk around the yard, she gets in her pool outside the coop but inside our fenced in yard but I wont let her out of the fenced in area without a leash, we are too close to the road. S/he loves people, still is doing the going back in the coop thing when she goes swimming. Im thinking because she feels more secure there. Her living conditions werent the best before and I think that the constant access to food & water has her a lil confused. Wow a year for a duck to use a pond? thats crazy! lol.. My duckies grew up getting in the bathtub everynight, so the ones Ive had since they were babies love their kiddie pool time every nightThat is really awesome that she does let you hold her so much. My gals are fine with petting, but have never been big on me carrying them around - they think they're far too busy to hold stillThat's odd about the coop, though. My gals go in and out all day just because their food is inside, but don't hang out in there. But your little sweetie might just feel more comfortable in there since she's still adjusting to her new home and still bonding with her new flock mates. I imagine she'll start coming out more once she's adjusted. My silly gals took almost a year to really get into using their pool, now one of them basically lives in there. As far as laying, I think mine started somewhere in the five to six months range. They're such a fantastic breed for eggs.
