Can someone tell me whats wrong with my ducks leg? ( pictures included

My fingers are crossed for you and your ducky that the vet will be able to do something to help little Zesty. Money for treatment may be the biggest hurdle you will have, Im sure you will have the care and love needed to pull him through. A slipped tendon would be the better diagnosis at this stage- over dislocation- The vet may be able to push the tendon back into place and strap the leg. If its dislocated he would need an anesthetic before relocation of the joint- the muscles may have shrunk a little making it hard- but the vet will know what is best. I currently have Ollie- a disabled duck living in the house. I just couldnt have him put to sleep and he really is such a sweet boy. They can still have some quality of life even with a disability.

Good luck I hope things go well for you and Zesty.

Well the vet said that it apears to be a deformity he was born with. nothing is dislocated or slipped his actual bone is twisted

the only way to permanetly fix it would be to break the bone and re set it ( i said no way ) he also suggested that he could make a splint to keep it from getting worse as he grows but it was too expensive for me at the moment.

thank you for the encouraging words. I really would like to have him as a inside house pet, but im worried about my dogs and i dont think my mom would like it too much eaither.

I've had thisx happen in quail before.

What you do is make a little "plate" a bit bigger then his foot out of something thin and solid. Then tape his foot into an open proper position onto the "plate" ,and tape it good.

Take it off and check every 4 days. He wont be able to swim for that time ,obviously, but if his foot heals (which it should) its wellworth not swimming for a week over having a gimped foot for the rest of his life.
