Hi, Tameka here I have some pics of our chicks. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what breed they are.They are the blonde color one. Also are you supposed to put some kind of chemical on the coop floor before the shavings? Someone told me ditamashous earth (sorry about the spelling probably not right) is to go down first.Thank you have a great day.

Hello! The lighter one is a Buff Orpington, the reddish one could be a Rhode Island Red, or even a New Hampshire Red......even a mixed red breed.

You don't have to put anything down into the pine shavings if you don't want to. It's not necessary.

Thank you very much. I'm pretty sure the red one is Rhode island red at least that is what Tractor Supply told us.The stuff on the floor was iffy I was told to do that but it came from someone who has not had chickens before so just wanted to double check. Thanks again to everyone for info and the warm welcomes.
