My Ducky girl has been dealing with sour crop for weeks! We’ve done monistat 3 day suppositories, acidified copper sulfate, everything I’ve seen on the internet and NOTHING has helped her. The only next step I know to do is the vet and I don’t have the money for that. Which is why I’m here now, is there anything else I can do to try and help her rid her of this?

I’ll get some taken tomorrow and post. Never thought about posting a picture, I apologize, it would be beneficial for sure

She’s not a very photogenic chick but here’s a few pictures of her.

How long did you give her the monostat? Is she eating? How does her poop look?
We did the monistat for about 5 days, it was hard to get her to eat any of it after a while, she eats on and off, sometimes really good and then other times not so good, her poop goes from solid to runny. We’ve been giving her a diet of yogurt and scrambled eggs. Her crop is very squishy and I empty it for her. She bends over to drink and it’ll come out on its own. I’ll tip her over for just a few seconds and tip her back over

I think she didn't get enough monistat. How were you administering it? It should be placed directly in their mouths so they have no choice but to swallow it.

We ended up mixing it with her food, but we can try it again and make sure it’s in her mouth and swallowing it

I would try that, for 7 days this time, quarter inch twice a day. It's important to not skip a dose.

Here's how I give chickens meds:
  1. Kneel down and place the chicken on your knee, holding her still with your non-dominant arm.
  2. Pick up the medicine in your dominant hand (I squeeze out the monistat onto my finger).
  3. Using your non-dominant hand, pull down on her lower mandible or wattles to open her mouth and place a finger inside to keep it open. If she struggles, make sure to keep her secure with your arm and keep your finger in her mouth while holding her head down and covering her eyes with your dominant hand until she stops.
  4. Slip the medicine onto the back of her tongue, or, in this case, scrape the cream off of your finger into the corner of her beak.
  5. Close her beak and let her swallow
Since you will be doing his daily she will get used to it and likely won't struggle as much the more you do it.
