CAN SWEET PDZ BE COMPOSTED?

I was wondering if I could put the used pdz in my compost bin?

If you are using a kitty litter scoop to remove the poo solids (that is what I used to do with PDZ but now I use sand), then the solids are great in the compost. If you are just dumping a lot of PDZ in there, you might end up with a pile of PDZ- I don't know. But it won't hurt your garden is what I was reading.

Keep in mind that what I am saying is only based upon this-

I agree with what others have said. It won't break down within the composter but it shouldn't hurt assuming you have enough organic material to keep the microbial action in the composter going.

I wondered the same thing about compostability. Going to switch from shavings to sand and wondered how to use the PDZ. Or do you even use it with sand? Mix it? or just sprinkle on top or underneath?
Not sure how the two go together but from all I have read on this site and others, sand is the way to go. Going to switch in the brooder tomorrow and get them used to it before they are old enough to go into the coop.
Figure they will freak out with a new "flooring" but will get adjust. They are 4 weeks old now.
Thanks so much.

I think it actually says on the bag that you can compost it. I don't think I have a bag around right now, otherwise I'd look and see if I'm right about that or not.

I think most people use the PDZ on their droppings boards, and sand on the floor. I haven't heard of anyone mixing the two, but maybe they do. I'm not really sure what you'd gain from doing that, though.

I called the company, thanks to the link from ChickensAreSweet, and found out that yes you can put it in the compost bin. However it won't break down, but is totally safe. You all were right
