Can the eggs create warmth?

I am on day 16 and I have noticed the last 2 days the bator very slowly creeping up an additional degree in temp. Can the eggs this close to hatch create there own heat? I truly hope this isn't a DUH question lol. I am getting so antsy for hatch day!!

Yes, developing chicks will get to a point where they are generating some heat. This is one reason that I believe in always having a thermostat controlled incubator that will maintain a temperature automatically rather than needing to be babysat and adjusted depending on the weather or other factors..
