Can they eat this thing?????

ok - to the barn it is. I never go out there, its an old pole barn filled with junk. You should all feel good about yourselves, you saved the spider!

Except for the Black Widows, I catch and release all spiders that I find indoors. Fortunately I've never found a Widow INSIDE my house (only outside by the hose spigot......eeek!) but I have owned ONE can of bug spray since we bought the place and it's generally reserved for their ilk.
I think of the harmless spiders like King snakes - they eat other bugs, BAD bugs, so as long as they will mosey out of my way they are welcome to live outside.

Yeah for you for not killing it!!!

They are such beautiful and beneficial creatures. It's pretty rare to find them wandering around. They like to stay pretty well hidden unless it is mating season.
Consider yourself fortunate for having such a voracious insect eater on your property.

LOL I live in Tarantula central. Once in the spring when horseback riding I saw one on the trail and stopped to watch it move into the grass. Then I looked around and saw another about twenty feet away then I looked the other direction same distance another one. I finally unfocused my eyes and spotted a tarantula in every one of those twenty foot spaces over at least five acres.

I was out gently poking one with a stick in the front yard and my mom came out and watched me for a while then she said off handedly "be careful they can jump about three feet" and walked back into the house..... Gawd what a fun spoiler.... Its a myth thank goodness. But as a sixteen year old at the time I was done with Tarantula 'messin'.

I will capture and release just about anything objectionable including rattlesnakes. Providing they cooperate.

Though I do hear if you roast them in a fire to burn off those hairs they taste much like crab..... Bwhahahahahah.... sorry I will go back into my hole now.

Good for you! My son has a Texas Brown as a pet. Harry is a very neat pet, he eats any nasty creepy crawlies I find scurrying around my house. He especially enjoys the pinkie he gets every once in a while as a special treat. Perhaps he'll keep your mouse population in check since you let him live.
