Thirty minutes ago I checked on my eggs and found my EE on the nest, so came in the house and checked on anything new on this forum. A minute ago, I went back outside to collect the egg bunny laid and guess what, 2 green eggs. Both the same temperature and the same color. What gives, can she do this? We have 17 chickens and no other EE's. All are other breeds (i.e. RIR, BR, Lakenvelder, Russian Orloff's, BO, BSL) so I don't think anything else could have done this. Bunny has also been consistant in laying every day. Was I just lucky today?

Thanks,

I bet she had it tucked into the nest so you couldn't see it, then rolled it out and sat on it (warmed it up). She might be able to lay 2 eggs in one day, but not consecutively! Congrats on nice green eggs!

I bet you were on here onger than 30 min!!! Know one can be on here for JUST 30 minutes!!!!

I know this seems impossible, but when I got three eggs out in the early morning, I mixed up all the straw in the next boxes so I know there were no other eggs in any of the boxes. Also she lays every day so she could not have hidden an egg anywhere, otherwise that means she laid two on another day. She is very spoiled so maybe she could have been the 2% side of unusual. This really has me stumped.

Here's what makes sense to me:
Hens have been known to lay two eggs a day, just not two at once. If you collected yesterday morning and fluffed up the bedding, it sounds to me like she layed in the afternoon or evening. When you came back 24 hours after collecting yesterday, there was the fresh egg next to yesterday evening's egg, equally warm because she was sitting there warming the older one up.
Is this scenario possible?

The only thing that makes any sense is that one of the Russian Orloff's is mixed with an EE and she decided to lay today right behind the EE. I got the Russian Orloff from a hatchery. Do they mix breeds? Other than that, I am completely stumped. I guess I will wait and see if it happens again. Thanks for your answers.
