Hello! I have a pullet with what looks like canker sores/wet pox just inside her mouth on both sides. I searched some threads earlier and I read that removing the gunk carefully with tweezers can help until she gets better, but that applying iodine to the sores helps them heal faster. I just want to make sure it’s safe to apply it on the inside of the mouth (I was going to dab a little on a Q-tip and apply it to the sores). Other than the sores, she’s doing perfectly fine - eating and drinking with no lethargy. Just want to get rid of this ick as soon as I can because I’m sure it’s uncomfortable for her. Thanks!

I'm not a doctor,,,, and I don't play one on TV,,, but I know that Iodine is only good on humans as a topical application. Ingesting it in larger than TRACE amounts, (like iodized salt) is probably not a good thing.:idunno
Your chicken is 1/200 of a humans mass. The small amount that may get washed down throat, as she drinks may not be soo good. Research a little more as how to treat canker sores. I have never encountered canker.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

Thanks! I’ll hold off since she’s not acting sick and keep an eye on it. Hopefully it’ll go away on its own in time.
