I am getting 3-7 turkeys in the spring of 2026. Will they be able to be housed with my 3 chickens who were born around June in 2025? Or will I have to separate them?

It will be better for your chickens if you keep the turkeys separate.

Turkeys will need a much bigger area than your chickens can get by with. They also have different feed requirements.

Yes, turkeys and chickens can get along, but it is not recommended due to the high risk of the turkeys contracting the fatal blackhead disease from chickens. While some flocks coexist peacefully with proper management, others experience bullying and illness, and the health hazards, particularly the blackhead disease, pose a significant risk to turkeys.

This really depends on your set up. When you say housed I'm going to assume enclosed area together. This I do not recommend 1st because turkeys can and do get aggressive. This could lead to some serious injuries to the chickens and possibly death. 2nd Blackhead a nasty parasite turkeys get from infected chickens. It's almost always deadly to turkeys if not caught early and treated.
With all this being said. I have 2 hen turkeys and chickens and ducks. Who all roam together during the day on an acre without problems. But they all have their own coops or pens. I have had some issues with the girls chasing chickens but the chickens are much faster and plenty of places to run. As far as feed goes they all eat 20% All Flock with oyster on the side and I've had no issues. Poults do need a good 30% game bird stater from hatch to 8 weeks then a all flock is ok in my opinion.

I’ve only had turkeys since this spring but they free range 24/7 along with a pair of ducks while the chickens stay in their run half the day and then are let out. No major injuries thus far but the 2 jakes have went after the roosters, one beat their butts and they learned to leave him alone. They mainly scuffle with the chickens when it comes to food. We’ll see how they behave when spring breeding season comes around.
