yes and no.. people do it all the time, however-- chickens are carriers of blackhead which can be detrimental to turkeys, but more so young birds than old-- as the way I understand it.

Just a word of caution, if you plan to keep turkeys, you're going to want to get some better wire for your run, that hex shaped chicken wire, isn't going to cut it.

ETA, scratch that thought, you've got heavy duty chain link behind it.

It looks it a she. I have kept turkeys and chickens together with no issues, but some people do. It depends if you have blackhead disease in your area. I am not sure but she could be a Narragansett breed.

they why did you ask if it would be ok to keep her with them?

i wanted to make sure my chickens would be ok
didnt know if a turkey would pick on mine
otherwise i would have set up a seperate pen for the turkey

I personally, would be more worried about the chance of blackhead (if your area is likely), than if the bird will pick on the others....

Disease OR pecking order????

My turkeys bullied my chickens, but others haven't had the problem, so it depends on your birds. The fact that she is outnumbered may work in your favor -- I had several turkeys and that seemed to encourage a "gang mentality." I did not have a problem with blackhead. I'll bet you she decides to sleep ON the doghouse rather than IN it.

My 3 turkeys used to live with my Silkies when they were youngsters. After about 4 mo of age the male turkey got too mean to the Silkies, the 2 female turkeys (didn't know they were females at the time) were fine with them. It's really far too general of a question as it *always depends on the turkey, the chickens, the housing arrangement, their moods, etc. You'll just have to try it and keep a close eye on them.

i was wondering weather or not she could fly also.
i clipped her wings to be safe before i let her out to free range
she is very slow moving, i dont think she can even jump up at all
i think she may be the "broad breasted" type, hoping not because i read they develop problems with mobility because of their weight
