It is unlikely that turkeys are specifically on the list of allowed poultry.
In may urban areas, wild turkeys do live freely in town but they don't confine themselves to one small lot.
A major problem with having turkeys in town is that they require a much larger area than chickens need. They are not likely to stay in your backyard.
Turkey hens can make good pets but toms for the most part don't.
There is also the issue that turkeys are very social birds and should not be kept as an only bird. They should have other turkeys for companions.
There are plenty of domestic turkeys in Australia. Most were imported a very long time ago.I live in Aus so only bush turkeys here
My council doesn't have a thing where I can just look it up. But I think they should be legal if they're not a nuisance. I'll ofc get 2+. I'll probably get my broody hen to hatch a few in the spring, keep 3 and then just hope they're all girls![]()
