Can two different breeds mate and make "MUTTS" like dogs?

Probably a stupid question but would one of my cochin pullets breed with a blue laced Red Wyandotte??? Should I seperate my two breeds from each other? I have three of each..
 
Yes chickens and any breed can mate red stars are mutts as well are cream LEGBARS and ancona auctally that would be a really nice breed mix so yeah one of my favorite hens is a mutt named mutt
 
If you want to keep them pure, then yes, they will need to be separated.
 
You only need to separate them 30 days prior to collecting eggs for hatching. Of course, if one of your hen's goes broody, she'll hatch pure or "mixed" eggs under her without distinction. If your broody isn't doing her thing and you're not hatching, there's no need to separate them at all.
