Hi! We got four new chicks last week. They're inside the house in a tub with a heat lamp.
Can we add a couple day-old chicks or will we need to keep them separated?
Will the day-olds get picked on by the week-olds? (They're all from the same hatchery.)
Thanks!

I would not integrate now.
The size differance will be an issue.
Also the activity level.
Younger chicks can get stressed, picked on, and crushed by bigger more robust youngsters.
Your day olds need rest.
Once everyone more feathered and energy level I would combine them.

I have chicks that are 2 weeks apart in age. BUT, I have ALOT of room for them in my brooder, not a tub. If you can make a bigger space you'll be better off but I think 1 week is fine. I have Lavender Wyandottes with Speckled Sussex and French Blue Marans. They're getting along marvelously irrespective of size difference.
