Can we do meat chicks and dual chicks in the same brooder?

I hatched 50 dual chicks last weekend and bought 25 Cornish cross meat chicks that came Thursday. Can I raise them in the same brooder? I know feed needs to come out at night for the meat chicks, but will that matter for the duals?

The CX tend to be food aggressive and wolf down their food. That would leave nothing for the duals. You might pull off raising them in the same brooder for a week or so but after that the duals may suffer malnutrition.

How big is your brooder? 75 chicks will need a lot of room. Agree with DobieLover, those CX's are piggies about food and they grow very fast.

I would keep them separate.

Your Cornishx chicks will grow insanely fast, eat and sit around, and need less heat much sooner than your 'normal' chicks. Separate will be best!

I left them together for 2 weeks, and did OK during that time, but they needed to be split!
