Can we talk about sizzle, frizzle, and frazzle

What breeds make these? Silkies and cochins? If so...does it make a difference if the roo is a silkie or cochin, or the hen is? I get confused on this...

originally silkie and frizzle cochin, not a sex linked gene, so you can use either sex from each breed.

Frazzle is a term use for a bird carrying 2 dose of frizzle gene (dominant) which create a curlier and weaker than normal feathering condition.

there are pics of them in the breed gallery.

so, if i decided to hatch some of my eggs. they may be sizzles? I have silkies and cochins in the same pen. roosters and hens. It just depends on who's mating w/who.

The cochin rooster is a lot more active than the silkie roo.

Well then how do you get the frizzle one? See, this just boggles my mind...

That's kind of like asking "where do you get barred rocks from?"

You get frizzles from hatcheries or other breeders, just like you do with any other chicken.

There are occasional spontaneous mutations that create a frizzled bird in a non-frizzled flock, but those are rare. Mostly you start by buying one!
