Hello. We are getting ready for the arrival of our 16 chicks. I have read so many posts and think we are ready except for the bedding. I only saw cedar chips at the TSC today the others were all empty. I didnt buy them because I wasnt sure if the cedar would be ok or if I should try somewhere else for plain chips. Our TSC is always out of stock on things : (

Thanks

I too got a couple small bags at WalMart, and it was like around $2 each. A Petstore would have them as well! Im new to chicks too, and everything Ive read says Cedar is a big no no, it can cause respitory issues. Stay with Pine.

Agreed cedar is toxic you can use aspen but will pay alot more for it, I buy big blocks of pine shaving for about $5 from tsc it's the kind they keep outside made for horse bedding. It's the best way I've found to buy it. just be carefull some is really fine some really corse and some in between. I like the fine stuff because it's absorbant and dosn't give you alot of splinters it dose tend to be dusty though, I don't think it matters with chicks but i used it on the rats i bred for the local pet store and some of them would get puff eyed from the dust.
