It is going to be in the high 70's today, was wondering if I could take my week old chicks out for a spell, then back inside? Can they pick at the ground, or would i be subjecting them to diseases? Thanks.

Well, when my broody hen hatched out her chicks, she had them out of the nest and running around the yard at about a week of age, and it was about 40 degrees outside! They're now 2 months old and are the hardiest, healthiest chicks we have ever hatched out here!

It's supposed to be nice here today, too. I was thinking I'd take the brooder out onto the patio this afternoon & let the bebes (I have three 3-day-olds) get some fresh air and sunlight. I'm going to leave them in the temporary brooder tub that they're in and put screening over the top. It'll be a good day for them!
