I see an opportunity to adopt a special needs female call duck who is 8 months old and apparently has wry neck. The owner has been giving vitamins but not seeing much improvement. Is this a disease that eventually ends in the duck suffering and needing to be culled, or can it be cured with patience and time?

I've read about the various vitamin supplements needed, beyond that is there other treatment? Would the duck be able to be kept outdoors with the rest of the flock, but maybe in it's own little area?

Yes. It can be beneficial to keep a wrynecked duck outside with the flock at another place. It offers an enclosed space for exercise and rest while encouraging social contact.

Make sure the location is safe, inaccessible by predators, and provides protection from the weather. In addition to having plenty of space for moving about, your duck should have access to food and water.

Oh yes, for sure. I've had ducks 6 years and never lost one to a predator! They are living the good life at my house, but I saw this call duck breeder trying to find a home for this special needs girl. I only have standard sized ducks, but an all-female flock of very sweet girls. I was just wondering about the prospects of taking this one in and whether she would be able to have a good life. Maybe she would be unhappy without other calls? Currently she's being kept in a stock tank and the breeder wants her moved out to make room for ducklings. My husband doesn't want me to take on a duck that he might have to cull because that's the worst job.

Physical Therapy could help I'm not allowed to send you link to the to another website, but if you Google it, you should be able to find a website called ducksofprovidence which I think they have a good way to give physical therapy to ducks.
