But, it really is starting to bother me that they still teach people that tis is a democracy. It teaches a basic misunderstanding of how our government works. What we have is a representative republic and we are trying to export democracy - which is severely flawed as a pure system. In california the government has to put dang near everything to a public vote so a). very little gets done b). hard decisions cannot be made. And our republic allows for a balance of power between the mob rule of the majority and the law which protects the minority people from being destroyed.
It is NOT democracy that brings you freedom it is the republic that ensures you are free.
It is sad to me that 10 college freshman out of 70 chose MONARCHY as the US form of government.
This is how we got a plutocracy.
