I was planning on getting two ducks from cackle hatchery through farm and fleet because my mom promised. I wanted to get ducks as pets and foragers to eat garden pests ONLY. No eating or egg laying to hatch and sell. S o I decided on a Cayuga and an Ancona. So we went to farm and fleet the ordering day and I ordered and paid for an Ancona and a cayuga duck and for them to be sexed because I wanted only females. So the pick up date was on march 20th. On march 20th we went to farm and fleet and picked them up. I knew that they were the wrong color but I thought that maybe the color would come out when they were older plus I was so excited that I could hardly control myself. So here's the deal that really upsets me. Like three weeks later my poor little duck ( only one ) dies. Something wrong with it's poor little feetsie's. Her sister was devastated and so was I!!!!! Her sister ( Tilly ) kept honking during the night in her little box cuz she was lonely. So for a week I had to sleep next to the door on the floor and she would stick her little bill out of the crack of the dooor and put it on my face! Now she can sleep without me now that shes older. So that was the first thing that made me mad because they gave me a faulty little duckling. I wanted them to replace and give me a free duck but cackle hatchery wouldn't do it. So this is the next thing that really made me upset. THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG DUCKS!! Yah, you read that right. Instead of an Ancona I got a Pekin ( who died ) and instead of a cayuga they gave me a khaki Campbell. Not hatcheries fault, farm and fleets fault. T hey had teenagers back there throwing random ducks in boxes probally. So as a wrap up th

is all could have been avoided if I got the right ducks. Farm and fleet gave me a hard time about my money back because I got the wrong ones and , this is a killer, a nice lady val offered us a free bin-o-duckling but it would be unsexed and I can't handle having a male. So next year I have to order two MORE ducks to keep Tilly company because shes so social and I cant always give her attention. But next time when I go to pick them up i'm going to bring pictures of what the duckling are supposed to look li,e and make sure that they are the right ones because they obviously don't know what they are doing at farm and fleet. Has any one else had an experience like this? I t has completely ruined the experience and joy of getting two little friends to be with. Here is an updated photo of Tilly ( that's totally an Ancona, uh huh, yep, sure )

A complaint to the management of the farm supply was definitely war rented. Now honestly, i wouldn't recommend waiting till next year ducks are flock animals and really do benefit from the company of others. Is there another place you can obtain a duck? That is too bad your first try into ducks was so complicated. Your duck is a cutie though!

Thank you. No other place has any more ducklings this year. Fo rnow she is happy as a clam hanging with me, my mom and my rabbits!

Tilly is totally beautiful! Sometimes mistakes are the best things in life :)

Marengo Illinois. Theres no local ads either. When the ducklings are gone, their gone.

You can still order ducklings from the big hatcheries like Metzer and Murray McMurray... they have hatchings every couple of weeks until the early fall; and you are much more likely to get exactly what you order
