I don't know ducks, so I have to ask - can't you just put 3 fake eggs in with 2 real ones?

Why not let her set what ever clutch of eggs she lays, then sell the extra ducklings after the hatch? If you advertise as she nears end of incubation, you will most likely have a customer lined up for the extras.

Fake eggs added after 2 fertile eggs laid may also work. Mark the 2 so you can remove any extras to do with as you wish. No question of good eggs vs bad in the nest this way.

I’ll definitely try this. I don’t want to risk egg explosions and would still like to keep the eggs I take so I can sell them.

Good idea. Ducklings may be worth more than selling just eggs.

And what if she hatches a boy? Are you keeping him? Might want to hedge your bets, to me. Let her do the 5.. you just never know with nature.
