Can you eat a cracked egg that’s just been laid?

Hey all! I’m a new owner of newly laying hens. Our Easter Egger just laid her first egg this morning. Yay!! Unfortunately I found it on the ground and slightly cracked; still warm. Is it okay to eat? Or should I just pitch it? Here’s a pic of the egg:

Thanks!

If you cook it well, all bacteria would be killed. Don’t save it, cook it right away tho.

It's fine for you to eat, if you do so today.. There won't have been any time for bacterial growth to begin.

Otherwise, scramble it and feed back to the hens (dogs, etc) if you're not inclined to to eat it yourself. The hens will eat the shells also.. slightly crushed but not too fine.

Cograts on your first egg.. it's lovely!

Do you have fake ones in your nest boxes to show them where to lay?
