I'm just curious that if birds are down hill if you can salvage them by using them for meat. My dad had brought it up and I cant dind anything on it.

Well honestly I wouldnt they are my pets. But I wanted to know if there was any evidence out there that said you shouldnt eat them.

Even though I consider mine pets as well, I will eat them. I grew up on a farm and we raised out own pork and beef every year. We learned really fast as kids to enjoy the time that you have with them, give them good quality life and be grateful for what they provide as nourishment for us.

I worked in the medical field for over 15 years so even though there is nothing out there that says not to eat a "sick" animal, I know that too many diseases cross the human/animal barrier and can make you very sick even causing death. I try to use my common sense about what is "safe" to eat and what isn't.

As did I. :) I have rasied ducks and tend to eat the roosters as well. But my hens live good long lives. I know humans ca get cocci but its different strains of it then what chickens get. I cant wait to grt my own place to start raising all my own meat milk and eggs. :)
