So my husband and I just got back after being gone a couple days... the person watching the house didn't realize to still collect the eggs under the broody hens so I have a dozen fertile eggs that have been sat on for 3-4 days. Can we still refrigerate and eat them or are they no good now? Don't want any yucky surprises in the skillet!

Crack them one by one into a bowl first. You will be able to see if they are or not. If they look good to you, cook em up. They wont be rotten, just fertilized or forming chicks.

I cracked a couple to see what was going on in there... a couple very faint veins had started to form. It didn't smell bad like when we've accidentally cracked into embryos that are farther along. Think I could use these ones just for baking despite the little veins? I just hate the thought of all of them going to waste!
