can you electrify an existing fence?

i’m installing 7.5’ tall deer fencing around a large part of my yard, with my coop and run inside.

can i electrify the fence itself? or do i have to run hot wires outside of the fence to zap any curious predators?

The existing fence has to be insulated from the fence posts to be able to be electrified. You can add hot wire to this fence as long as it's installed properly.

Is the fence fastened to the fence post directly with staples? Or is the fence separated from the fence posts with plastic separating the posts from the metal fencing?

If the metal fencing is attached to the posts directly, then no, you can't electrify it.

Then, no you can't electricfy the current fencing.

However. There are insulators that attach to metal posts that will easily allow you to add hot wire to the existing fence posts.

It's really not that difficult. Let some here steer you in the proper direction. It will save you tons of money.

im always open to input from any and everyone. but i really enjoy one-stop-shopping.

so i’ll take advice and apply it to my
shopping list.
