Can you encourage girls

I am new to hatching eggs but I have owned chickens for several months now, and my eggs hatch today in my incubator, I already see a hole in one and hear it peeping. So I wonder, can you encourage girls and not roosters? Like sea turtles, if the sand is cool then it will all be boys but if warm it will be girls. Is there anything I can do next to encourage girls?

Nope, sorry. I'm pretty sure that for chickens, gender is determined at fertilization.

No unfortunately, chickens are not reptiles, so they are the gender they are from the get go. There are some threads here on BYC that discuss increasing likelihood of females by using refrigerated eggs, but I think this may be anecdotal and not evidence based.

Chickens (and all birds for that matter) are unusual in that females have ZW and males have ZZ chromosomes. The female contributes either a Z or W chromosome, while males always contribute a Z. This leaves females in charge of sex determination, unlike how the male determines this in mammals. Temperature doesn't affect sex
