CAN YOU EVER REALLY HAVE TOO MANY CHICKENS?

If it is to the point that you have to feed them food that you are supposed to be eating,then you need to switch to bantams,you can feed twice AS MANY OF THEM FOR THE SAME MONEY.

Also bantams are 1/2 the size of the regulars with 1/2 the appetite .....

If your dad goes that much feed , some kind of way they are wasting this food .

#1. I have close to a 100 head , varies breeds and ages . I go thru 2 bags of laying pellets a month and 1 bag of chicken scratch and 1 bag of chick grower ....

NOW I do give snacks because I can not let them free range . BUT 6 bags is a BIT much for 45 head .

#2. I feed HEAVY in lae afternoon only . Norning and mid afternoon I give snacks ... BREAD , rice veggies ....

# 3. CHICKENS do not have to be eating 24/7

My husband says I have too many now (just over 50)
I told him, they are money in the bank

He says he could have purchased a calf with the money I have put into 50+ chickens

I said, yup, you could have purchesed ONE cow, but I got 50+ chickens

When having chickens becomes WORK, you know you have too many. At around 250, it became work to me. I am now down to 50 and it is again fun to have chickens. No doubt that the 50 will increase but I now have someone who will kick me in the ars if it starts to get out of hand. I say "yes" it is possible to have too many chickens.

still rather buy chicken feed for chickens than buy feed for calf . ALOT more expensive and NO , they can not only graze ... LOL

lol im maxed out....11 in the coop is all i can fit in my yard!!! LOL once i get my own house though, im goin for 100
