Can you feed wild bird seed as a treat?

I have ten chickens and they are eight weeks old, they have a ten foot square coop with attached nest boxes that 2x2. They have a run attached that is 10x20 and that's where they spend their time. They are on a 20% chick grower now and I am sust considering giving them something to search for in the run, it's all grass for the time anyway and with the cost of scratch I was wondering about wild bird seed as a treat. They get veggies, fruit, bugs and whatnot, but I was just wondering. They get grit and dirt and whatever else they find. They love stale bread! As a treat and tomatoes, just looking while the garden is growing.

Thanks, I thought it would be OK. I was just thinking of an inexpensive treat to keep them from digging up the invisible fence wire!:D
