Yes, definitely...mine love it when we have shrimp and they get the shells.

Mine love it when I go fishing. They get the guts and any extra or left over bait(minnows, worms, crickets). Sometimes I go empty the minnow traps just to feed them to the chickens. Today they had catfish guts and minnows. Been doing this for years and never have had any problems.

My only concern is the cleanup afterwards. The scent and tiny bits left may attract predators and bugs.

I decided to forgo the good stuff until I can be guaranteed that my coops/runs are truly predator proof.

But yes, they will eat what's good for them and mostly leave the bad stuff alone. Chickens are pretty smart that way!

ranchie- currently cleaning a half bushel of cooked crabs and wishing I dared to toss the guts out.

We've let the hens at the bay have fish carcasses as a treat and didn't notice any fishy tast to their eggs. But just as a treat; it might be different if they have them all the time. My girls at the house haven't started laying yet, but they do love shrimp shells and crab. DH boils some crab from time to time and goes in the backyard to share with the chickens. They are very well mannered and wait their turns. It's really cute to watch...

Was hoping some of you have some wisdom about whether or not it is safe? My son likes to bring home fresh catch from the pier down at the beach. He gave them the guts this afternoon and they gobbled it all up.

Haven't given the heads yet. Any opinions?
On Google it says it's safe ,I checked because I caught blue gill last night cleaned them and was wondering the same thing as you.
