If he tries to fly away, most likely he wouldn't survive long. Usually you have to render 'protected' species flightless to avoid escape.

Gracie: ah, tis the season for people to do stupid things with wildlife. Wasn't aware of that's factor, thought it was just upon initial hatching and what they saw...again, never updated my goose knowledge I know much about many animal species and what they need nutritionally so I know I can take care of this little one properly incase any of you were worried,

I do know that it is not Canadian. Had wildlife specialist confirm that is is not a canadian. soooooooooo. how was your day with the gos's?
