can you guys tell me a good standard

Well......I like Standards..Brahma (any color)...Buff Orpingtons are sweet birds, so are the Black/Blue/Splash....RIR girls are also nice....

The turkens lay good, they look odd. Since you are in a northern state, you might have to worry about frost bite, thats where wyandottes are the best, brahmas are right behind them as far as cold hardyness and laying through the winter. We havent had turken hens lay in the winter, they stop like the plymouth rocks.

yeah we got a silver laced wyandotte from murray mcmurray as an extra chick she was very nice but she died for some reason we do not know why but she was very sweet

The Turkens are very disease resistant, one of the hardiest in that regard. They have less feathers so I'd worry abouth the cold.

Buff Orps, Brahmas, Barred Rocks, Buckeyes are all friendly, cold hardy breeds.

personally I love bantams more, but i did have standards for awhile and I absolutely fell in love with the black Australorps, they lay very well, do great in cold weather and are stunning. Mine always followed me everywhere.
