Can you have just two ducks?

You CAN have just 2 ducks, but I bet you won't...I know that idea didn't work for me.
I now have...23.

If you can wait until a short time after Easter, I bet you can get as many as you want for free from people buying adorable little ducklings without realizing those adorable little ducklings will actually turn into ducks.

Mrs. Turbo :

we started with 2 ducks and they did just fine, but now look at us! We have ducks everywhere.

You're so lucky-ducks everywhere is a good thing(to quote Martha Stewart).

Yes, will have to restrain myself!

My experience with hens has been kinda like that, but I have been fairly good about keeping a manageable population. In fact, at one point I had "hoped" that our three hens who are getting kinda old, would somehow just pass away, so I could get a few others who would actually lay us some eggs. But, now I have to admit that I am hoping they will live super long happy lives just toddling around our backyard since through the years I have grown attached to them. I have let go of my urge to have more chickens....and replaced it with ducks!

How's this for duck math- I also started with two ducks and now have 23! That number is projected to rise as a local wildlife rescue asked me if I could find a home for a Blue Swede with angel wing apparently dumped on a local lake. I just have to lure her, but the peas I offered kept sliding on the ice and the Canada Geese sort of overwhelmed her, even though they're kind of her family and she holds her own.

Some of my other ducks spent part of their youth in an Easter basket before being left to their own devices on the local waterways. I really want to get the word out, however I can, discouraging people from idiotically thinking they can put a live animal in what is essentially a holiday toy/decoration, then dump it "in the wild" when it gets too big and messy. I'm sure none of these people would consider themselves animal abusers but that's just what they are.
