Welcome to BYC My3CatsMy female guineas wattles usually lie flatter to the head where as the males curve out in a c shape. The females make the 2 part call and the males a one part call or one that reminds me of a machine gun-loud and fast. That is when they are mature. When they are younger of course its harder to tell and I dont think they mature as fast as chickens. currently I have approximately 50 guineas many who I let free range and let them in at night.
This has been my sure-fire experience. But they weren't show birds, just barnyard guineas. I hear people saying that it's so hard to tell them apart, but in my experience, the males have wattles cupped out-ward, and females have wattles cupping in....more like 'hugging' their face. I was shocked to have never heard or read of this, I felt like I had some great secret! lol It may not be sure-fire for everyone's birds, but worked for me.My female guineas wattles usually lie flatter to the head where as the males curve out in a c shape. Yes, I have 6 Turkeys and 4 Peafowl. All but one of my Toms and my one Peacock were hatched/raised with Guineas... so for the most part they all get along and the Guineas know who's boss. I have one tough mean Turkey Hen that will whoop the snot out of any Guinea that ticks her off. She's constantly scolding them, reminding them that they don't want to get flogged by her again, lol.Peepsca you have turkeys and Peafowl also?
