Happy chicken raising, and I wouldn't worry too much about him changing it. Just investigate how far away from property lines they need to be and build away. You know that you are within the limits of the law, and if a problem arises, cross that bridge when you get there, I wouldn't worry about him.

Well... there are times I walk about with my Silver Lakenvelder on me shoulder and pretend I'm a PIRATE!! YAAARGH!!









Then my wife comes into the coop and tells me to knock it off.

Just keep your coop extremely clean and don't keep roosters. Perhaps you can create a compost heap so that you can cover used litter with soil and garden refuse, which will reduce the smell from old litter (if your neighbor is a big gardener, offer him or her some compost; it will be rich in nitrogen and plants will love it!).
