did you GET them from MCmurray???
because they sell (or used to sell) "black stars" and "red stars"..
years ago i had BOTH types from them.. my black stars look XZACTLY like those.. and layed dark brown. the darkest i have seen (xcept marans)
i think they are black sex-links

I have two from Ideal that look exactly like the OP's second pic and very similar to many of the other pics posted in this thread. I have been trying to figure them out also. Mine aren't laying yet but I am now more curious then ever to see what colors they pop. Mine have really short stubby tails so I have been thinking EEs BSL makes sense too though... I guess until they lay my wait to ID continues! In the mean time I will be watching this thread to see the development/final consensus here though. Either way I love my two girls, they are lots of fun and I love the color contrast on them.
