This is our first year with chicks and my dear husband was SO excited that he went out and got everything we needed, including the chicks. Awesome! However, he can't remember what breed these dear chicks are! He remembered the other chicks were Isa Browns but couldn't remember these. He said he was told they were "nice" and layed "different colored" eggs. I'd really like to know what these buddies are! Thanks for your help!!

They are cuties. I think the fact that they lay different color eggs is the best clue. They are probably Easter Egger chickens, I believe that Ameraucan and Araucana are related breeds, but the most commom from hatcheries are often just called Easter Eggers. Check out the link for some info: http://www.cacklehatchery.com/araucana.html

Hey, I'm in West MI as well :)

Thanks - I had looked at those breeds as possibilities but the chicks didn't resemble them all too closely! I suppose it doesn't REALLY matter, but I just wish I knew!

Can you call the store to ask what the had available to narrow it down? It can be tough to identify the breed of chicks because certain breeds come in various colors like the Easter Egger can.

Anyway, I'm sure your family will have lots of fun with the chickens.
