You folk seem quite good at this! I'm not positive of the age, maybe 16 wks now.
This is Mrs Fluffnut who I was given as a companion to my young blind pullet, Giblet.
Mrs F had been bullied & lost alot of feathers on her back & she was very nervous.
She's recovering well, growing in confidence & they have become the best of friends
but if Mrs Fluffnut is actually MR Fluffnut sadly he'll have to go back as it would be
unfair to Giblet. The sooner I know the better so I can find a new friend for her.
Any ideas?

I believe this is a pullet. I had a flock of silkies, sold them but from the start i studied them and got so I could tell pullet from roo. takes time but it can be learned.

I think it's a Mrs. Fluffnut.

Was the head feathers picked out? It looks like there may be some streamers at the back. What does the silkie act like ? Any male tendencies?
Its hard to judge the behaviour as I've never had a silkie before & interacting with a blind friend may be different than usual.
She did rear up a bit to Giblet today which made me think...uh oh! but may be just sorting out pecking order. In other breeds
I've found the boys more friendly.
The head feathers are au naturalle, I was wondering if they could be streamers coming at the back. and there's some harder feathers in the wings & coming in the tail I think - not sure if that matters.
She's very shy & hard to photograph but I've tried to get a better pic of those head feathers here

So far you've all been very reassuring, but does seeing these pics change your mind?

I'd say roo, it has streamers and that figure 8 shaped comb that males get, but im only about 60%. Apparently pullets and Roos have different shaped beaks, pullets have a soft curve and Roos have a sort of hook shape, it's a small difference but noticeable if you look closely, there's not a lot of info on it so I'm not sure if it's been confirmed
