Welcome and Good Luck!
Best bet reputable breeder but hatch rates are not superior to buying one day olds that have a greater survival rate.

I have hatched Trader Joe fertile eggs several times, just for the fun of it. One of my best layers is "Josephine", a TJ product. The eggs had been washed and refrigerated, of course. The way it usually goes is that nearly all begin to develop, but at the end the hatch rate is low. It is important to read the Julian date on the end of the carton to get recently boxed eggs. The best hatch I every had from them was 8 out of 11. More frequently, it was 50% or less. I bought fertile brown eggs from Clark's Nutrition twice and never hatched any.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens! We are glad you joined the flock! :welcome BYC is a helpful site providing all of the information you need to know about poultry. There is always space for members on the BYC roost!:highfive: I also agree that a reputable breeder will always have the best fertility rates. Just read reviews from wherever you are considering to purchase so that way you can see others experiences.

Hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do!
