Well I want a good layer, quiet, and friendly. It's probably going to be mostly a pet/egg layer.
How well would they survive in a MN winter? I've raised a chicken by itself before so I think I can handle it. Maybe I'll raise it with a chick.

Are Campbells quieter then other breeds? I remember now that Campbells are the breed that are suppose to be able to lay up to 350 eggs a year.

My Cayuga is an ok layer. I have seven Laying ducks at the moment, the rest are babies and drakes. I get around 5-6 eggs a day. I don't know whose egg is whose, but they are different eggs. Cayuga lays dark eggs so I think she lays every other day.

We have 2 mallards with our pullets....they are VERY messy....they make a HUGE MESS OF THE WATER. I just scoop out the wet shavings around the water once a day.....clean out their waterer 2 or 3 times a day....aside from the mess they are great together....they've been together since they were 1-2 weeks old sooo they don't really know anything else.....they quack a lot....the ducks like to chat with me more than the chickens. I'm fairly certain they don't know they are ducks and think they are chickens like the rest of them lol

If I ever get ducks, I want to get two. Indian runners and campbells are good layers, which what I'd want too. But I've heard that it's hard to get a real campbell... that breeders mix them with other ducks and those aren't good layers. Is that true?
