can you make a hen go broody?

There is a few that have gone broody before and I wondered if they would go broody. It would get them away from yh cockerels! I have two silkie hens and they have never gone broodyband everybody always days that silkies are amazing broodies and my pair haven't ever.

Silkies, as a rule, tend to be a broody breed. That doesn't mean that EVERY silky will be broody. If they're hatchery birds, it seems that the tendency is even less. If you need to get them away from the cockerels, maybe you need to make more space and separate them.

The cockerels only seem to go to a few of them the rest they don't bother much about

I don't know that there is any cnnection between going broody and the presence of cockerels.

I don't think that it's very likely. Broodieness is a hormonal thing in chickens. But if one hen is broody there is a better chance that others will go broody as well. I had a buff brahma bantam go broody once and I had 5 follow within about 1-2 months after the first broody. I recently had a phoenix go broody 8 days ago and one of my Cochin bantams just went broody today. So it really depends on the hen. But don't try to force it!!! They will brood if they want to people can't make them.

Well there is a hen sitting for the first time just now and there are two other hens in the pen that have been broody before and I was just wondering if they would go broody too
