Can you mix silkies in with a regular flock........

I have a 15 week old silkie, I'm almost certain is a rooster. He not only lives with the rest of my layer and CX chicks, he bosses the cornish around - even though most of them outweigh him by about 10 lbs.

My silkie in a flock of 10 is THE BOSS... its so funny to watch everyone else tip toe around her

Are silkie roosters the same as other roosters? One to every 6-10 hens?

You absolutely can mix them. I have two mixed in with 23 standards and they do just fine!

My Silkie does fine with my mixed flock. She sleeps with my Seramas at night in their coop but spends her days with the whole flock. Everything from Orpingtons and Ameracaunas down to Seramas and Cochin Bantams.

No.....but I'd get a gentle Bantam breed. Like maybe Cochin Bantam
