Can you prevent broodiness?

Are there little things to do to prevent my hens from going broody?

Not sure if anyone will have any tips for you. I never know until one is broody and then I have to try and get her out of it as quickly as possible!!

When one of my Silkies goes broody I break her by putting her in a wire bottom cage, works every time.

Feathersite has a good article on breaking broodiness also. You should read it, its very informative.

But basically, get them up off the ground at the first sign of broodiness and put them in a wire bottom cage so that they get air underneath them. It should break them in a day or two.
