A lot of things are marketed as "FOOD GRADE" Crude oil is one of the better known. You probably know it as Mineral or Baby oil.The biggest danger with DE is breathing it, and they would definitely breathe it if it were in their dust bath. I used to use it, but don't do it any more, since I learned the various illnesses (human as well as critter) that it can cause when breathed.
It's perfectly safe to eat, if it's marked 'food grade' on the package.
I feed my chickens de and it cleans them so it is ok if they eat it
Confusion and misinformation indeed, as is common with these “all curing” natural remedies.Actually you’re right it does clean them out ,it is very useful for many animals , I know a man who adds it to his breakfast . There’s food grade and filter grade, food has less then 2% silica, filter has much more (60% I think), there’s much confusion and mis information View attachment 1459670
Does anyone give their chickens a bath. I've been reading about it. What is your view on it?
