Was looking at my 13 week old rooster, Ben, this morning and I realised I couldn’t actually see the pointy saddle feathers males have. Im fairly sure he is a roo, so maybe I just can’t see them? Was wondering what more experienced people thought.

He's definitely a cockerel but I'm not sure he has pointed saddle feathers yet. Typically in that variety they should have the black down the middle. He *may* have some pure white ones though, I'm having a hard time telling from pictures. With age they should start looking like this

Can you lift up the saddles, & get a picture? I can't tell if there's any pointy saddles, or not.

Thinking most likely an early blooming pullet, if there's no pointed saddles present.

I looked at his feathers again this morning, and I’m pretty sure I can’t see any pointed feathers. One of his brothers has pure white ones, but (as far as I can tell anyway) he doesn’t seem to. It would be great if he was a pullet, but I would be very surprised. Could his saddle feathers just be late to develop? Also, does size indicate gender? Because him and the other Roos are massive, much bigger than my year old bluebell hens already.
I’m pretty sure they are mostly light Sussex, but is that breed supposed to get that big? If they grow anymore I’ll hardly be able to lift them... 🤣
