I have a 2 year old BO who gets eggbound almost weekly. She lays perfectly hard eggs for about 3 days then produces a softshell which doesn't come out easily enough. Has anyone ever heard of a process that would stop her laying machinery from working? She's very dear to me so I would never consider the obvious. I will continue to sit with her in warm baths until this problem is fixed. It's been going on for the last year and I've done everything possible with her diet to fix it naturally.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Find a vet to take out her girl parts......it has been done if you don't want to do the other option. don't know what it would cost. Also keeping her in the dark with minimal light exposure.

I read somewhere about a lady who took her hen to the vet twice a year for some shot that prevented her from laying eggs. But that was a while ago and I'm not sure where I read that. But her hen was so prone to being egg bound that she couldn't take it. And she couldn't put her down as she was a pet and her favorite.
