Can you take a chicken trick or treating?

Safety first......

Some people don't contain their dogs well, and while it would be cute...

If a large dog smells chicken and gets excited their is a very real possibility of your little one getting seriously injured, especially if knocked down some stairs.

If you're going to do it, be highly , highly aware and super vigilant.

If we see a dog outside then we will not bring the chickens out to the door. If the dog is inside hubby will scoop the the chicks from Kira. I have been down the route we are going to take her trick or treating and majority of the houses have screen doors before the actual door. IF it is a house that does not have a screen door we will try to avoid it. I have planned this out and went over what could be potential dangers.

This would be an adorable picture to take, but I absolutely would not take them trick or treating. It sounds as if you've already made up your mind to do it, but heres a few reasons right off the top of my head why I wouldn't.

*It would be too stressful for the birds.
*Its a biosecurity risk for your birds & your neighbors birds.
*Unless you're going in the afternoon the chickens will want to be in bed.
*You will have bird poop everywhere.
*Struggling with birds will diminish the fast paced fun of trick or treating.
Last but not least,
*Props are heavy. Even the lightest props get bulky & cumbersome quickly. Most people don't even notice the props, so its best to take pictures with the cute props & the cute shoes & then leave them at home. As a parent of three, I guarantee your DD will not miss them once she's out there & she will have more fun without them.

This is a time of year when most people go out of their way to keep their pets extra safe. Not trying to be Linus' wet blanket here, but I hope you decide to leave them at home.

Thank you so much, I was scared that the chicken would get stressed I just didn't know, I will keep them home but I still want a picture (if she will allow me, she hates getting her picture taken) kids normally go trick or treating 5-8.

Yes, the kids loved it. It was supposed to really be part of my costume, however I knew she wouldn’t last long with me!
I would say about 90% of people wanted to hold her!

I don’t worry about biosecurity bc we r the only ones around here with chickens lol everyone gets a kick out of her and her chicken. I got some light brahmas one of which I want to name cujo so I can walk him too hahaha can u imagine?! Only if you r old enough to know why cujo
