My DH picked up my magpie ducklings this morning from ideal hatchery . I had asked for them not to send crested magpie ducklings... Can you tell if they are? I'm impatient to find out and I won't be home until 8pm.

PS I paid for heat pad and no packing peanuts... What did they send RIR ?

Yep...Some have crests.....Crested is a genetic deformity and it means the skulls are not fully closed so causes the poof on the head..The bigger the poof the bigger the hole in the skull..
Best wishes..

So miffed off. Thanks for your input. I'll keep them they are adorable but dang. it does say "crested may be included " but all of them? If I wanted crested I would have specifically ordered crested.

I see what may be potentially be very small crests on the side of a few of the magpie ducklings heads. I have a crested magpie duckling however, and can say for sure that she has quite a bit larger of a crest, and that I'm not actually 100% those ducklings ARE in fact crested. When you get home, you should be able to tell by feeling their heads. If there's a clear bump of feathers on their heads, they're crested. If you're still not sure, after a few weeks you should be able to tell for certain. My duckling's crest has grown quite a lot since I first got her.

This is my crested Magpie duckling when I first got her 3 weeks ago from Ideal. The crest will typically be obvious.
