Can you tell me about our Little Popcorn

That is most definitely a rooster. He also has a single comb which is not desirable in a silkie. The question is how badly do you want to keep him? Is he a pet bird?

Sorry,it's actually caponized.
Can you tell me more? I looked it up. Where would I have something like this done?

My grand children adore him. This is the 3rd Roo from the same batch and each one, they loved. It will break their hearts if we have to get rid of him. He's just a pet, not for show or breeding.

Ok google places in your in your area.I can get it done at a university. It would cost me $20,and it takes about half a hour. What state do you live in,I might can recommend a place I have had some experience with. The bad thing is there is no promises, just like any surgery.

There is a vet that does surgical de crowing of roosters in the US. There is the "decrowing roosters" thread elsewhere on the forum, it is all discussed on there- the procedure, cost, prognosis etc. It is completely sterile surgery with anaesthesia.

But the bad thing about that is it don't remove the testosterone.I have had both procedures done to my roosters.I was way happier with the canonizing. My rooster became just like a house cat.The bad thing is they can gain weight so you half to monitor what he eats.If you can give me the state you live in,I might can track someone down.I'm a uppity up show judge,so I might can help,
no promises.

I an a vet tech and we surgically neutered my 7 wk old yesterday and he is doing great today, I an lucky enough to work at a great place with a skilled surgeon to do it for me, we'll see how he grows up, he is a pet too
