Sorry guys, I've been on vacation this week and I've missed all the emails and posts but let me clarify a little bit.
First, the roo- Yes, severe frostbite. I mentioned this earlier when I realized the picture I had looked like a rose comb bird. We had a brutal winter and nothing I could do helped the freezing. Before the winter he had the most beautiful bright red comb I've ever seen. As far as the feet, they are slightly yellowish, certainly not bright yellow though. Otherwise everything about him, as far as I can see, is Orpington. The person I bought him from said he was and Orpington, I guess I just trusted him. Here's a better picture, let me know what you think:
The picture of the chicks on my website is just a bunch of chicks I hatched from
ebay eggs last year. I don't even think I have any of them around anymore.
I think the one in the front was a porceline d'uccle.
I do have free range birds but they are kept separate from the blues. The blues are in a pen by themselves in the garden, 200 yards from the barn where the others are kept. On rare occasions a blue hen will sneak out of the pen but she's still confined by my garden fence. I've never seen any of the other roosters even close to the garden so any cross-breeding is highly unlikely.
If anybody hatched non-orpingtons from my orpington eggs, I'd really like to know about it. I'll be glad to send a refund if this is the case. All the chicks in the pictures look like chicks I've hatched from the same eggs and they're growing into orpington-looking birds.
I hope that answers all the questions. I'm terribly sorry for any confusion. Please, let me know if there are any other concerns.
